Christopher Nolan Says NO Joker in Batman 3

Director Christopher Nolan has said that the Joker will not be returning in Batman 3 or any other subsequent bat-films as long as he's helming the franchise. From the latest issue of Empire Magazine:

"'No,' says Nolan emphatically and unhesitatingly. He resists elaborating simply because, quite understandably, he says, 'I just don't feel comfortable talking about it.'"

Gfest is very happy that the Joker will not return in Batman 3. Heath Ledger did a wonderful job and it would have been disastrous to recast the Joker.  Kudos to you Christopher Nolan.

Let the debate begin.  Who will be the next Batman villain?

A new trailer for DC Universe Online has been released today where creative director Jens Anderson talks about one of the many transportation features found in the upcoming online game.

Superspeed, originating from The Flash, allows players to run faster than lightning on the ground, up walls, and on the ceiling. A small demonstration of what it can do can be seen in the video.

Sexy Olivia Munn Newest 'Daily Show' Correspondent

Comedy Central has confirmed that Sexy Goddess of the Geeks and Attack of the Show host Olivia Munn is “trying out” to become a Daily Show correspondent.

Gfest loves Steve Carrell, Stephen Cobert, Ed Helms, Rob Corddry, Rob Riggle, Nancy Walls, etc. but Olivia has something they're missing.  What could it be?  Oh, ya, it's a smokin hot body and big rack!

In addition to her G4 gig, Munn will also be co-starring in NBC’s sitcom Perfect Couples next season.

Variant Cover for Zantanna #2 is YLLUFREDNOW YPEERC

Gfest is a very big fan Brian Bolland.  The British born comic artist has done some of the most meticulous, detailed and beautiful art in recent memory.  His run Judge Dredd, Camelot 3000 and Batman: the Killing Joke are simply wonderful.

It's no surprise that his variant cover for Zantanna #2 is a uniquely drawn cover that includes vampire-like Batman, Catwoman, and Dr. Light creatures.

CIA had Plans to Create a Saddam Gay Sex Tape

But which of these Saddams were they targeting?

According to the Guardian, some of America's top spies believed that shooting a fake video of Saddam cavorting with a teenage boy might destabilise his power base. "It would look like it was taken by a hidden camera. Very grainy, like it was a secret videotaping of a sex session," one former CIA official was quoted as saying.

Obviously that plan never went anywhere.  But the CIA did apparently make a video of a fake Osama bin Laden sitting around a camp fire, drinking booze and boasting of his own gay conquests.  I'll bet that was a fun day at work for the CIA boys.

It's hard to believe we haven't won this war on terror yet with top notch plans like these.

Brightest Day #7 to Reveal Why Heroes Came Back from Dead

In an interview with Newsarama, Geoff Johns revealed this interesting little tidbit:

"I'm actually the most excited for Deadman to charge his ring...all will become very clear in issue #7 as the story behind the returning characters is revealed."

Just when it seemed like Brightest Day might be starting to drag a bit, it looks like Johns will be kicking it up a notch very early on in his run.  I wasn't expecting the answer to why the came back for a long time.

Here is the official DC Comics solicit for Brightest Day #7:

There can be only one who wields the White Lantern...but is it truly Deadman? And what will happen when he attempts to charge the white ring? Meanwhile, Ronnie Raymond risks everything for Firestorm, Martian Manhunter uncovers more clues about the bizarre string of murders stretching across the country, Aquaman searches for the key to the ocean's survival and the Hawks come face-to-face with the evil that lurks within the strange land known only as Hawkworld!

Did Dan Didio Just Bitch Slap Vertigo Comics?

A Rich Johnson rumor says that Dan Didio has decided to take Swamp Thing away from Vertigo to bring him back to the DC Universe.

Recently demoted DC Comics Co-Publisher Dan DiDio has decided that a new Swamp Thing title will be released under the DC banner, instead of a planned reboot from science fiction author China Mieville.

What's more, Johnston contends that the Didio proclamation extends to any of the Vertigo superheroes that originated in the DC Universe.

Many are outraged by this move, but it makes a lot of sense to gfest.  While Vertigo's roots are in edgier takes on classic DC superheroes, that's not what drives the Vertigo train today.  Today Vertigo is THE home for highly acclaimed original series like 100 Bullets, Preacher, Scalped, DMZ, Transmetropolitan and Y: The Last Man.

For years, Vertigo's flagship series was Hellblazer, but that's no longer the case.  Today, Fables rules the world of Vertigo.

So mark it down, today gfest agreed with a Dan Didio decision.  We're as shocked as you are.

Harry Potter's First Time

Gfest loves the Harry Potter books, but you know what the most unbelievable part of the book was?  The lack of sex.  All those hormones running around in a boarding school, and none of those kids are having sex?  Gfest doesn't buy it, especially in a school where Hermoine Granger is running around for heaven's sake.

2010 Reuben Award Winner for Best Cartoonist of the Year

Bizarro creator Dan Piraro won the 2010 Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year, presented over the weekend by the National Cartoonists Society. He beat out fellow nominees Stephan Pastis (Pearls Before Swine) and Richard Thompson (Cul de Sac).

The organization also handed out 13 divisional awards in categories ranging from feature animation to book illustration to comic books. Paul Pope won the latter for "Strange Adventures," his Adam Strange strip serialized in DC's Wednesday Comics, while David Mazzucchelli took home the graphic novels award for his critically acclaimed Asterios Polyp.

New 'Wii Party Game' Makes New Use of Wiimote

According to IGN, the retailer HMV provided details on the game's "Living Party" games.

At the Wii Party announcement last month, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said these games would make clever use of the Wiimote. This seems to be the case.

The HMV report mentions three games:

Wanwan Karuto

The screen shows the picture of an animal. Each players' Wiimote makes an animal sound. Can you guess which sound matches the animal shown on the screen?

Remote Control Hide and Seek

You hide your Wiimote somewhere in the room and other players try to find it based just off the noises coming from the device.

Sensitive Bomb

Hold the Wiimote up and pass it along to other players, trying your best to keep it perfectly still. If the Wiimote shakes, it explodes (well, not really, of course).

Wii Party will have six of these "Living Party" games along with 80 more basic "standard" games. The Japanese release of Wii Party is set for July 8.  No word on the U.S. release date, but Gfest hopes it is soon. (image via ign)

Batman Pictured as a Violent, Vengeful Sociopath = Great Art

Tom Fowler, a Canadian comic artist has published work includes Mad's "Monroe", Mysterius: The Unfathomable, Revolution on the Planet of the Apes, Green Arrow, Grendel, Star Wars: Jango Fett and Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight.

Gfest was viewing his blog to see the beautiful pieces of art he will have on display for purchase at Heroescon when we stumbled across this gorgeous picture of batman.  Fortunately, this piece is for sale by contacting Tom at his blog

Tom had this to stay about the batman picture:
"batman's a character i've always had a lot of trouble with. i tried about three other drawings before chucking them in favor of the only way batman ever seems to make sense to me: a violent, vengeful sociopath."
Gfest cannot believe he has ever had a problem drawing Batman after viewing this wonderful picture.  We'll take the throwaways, Tom and proudly display them.

BP Accomplishes What Bowser & Plankton Never Could

Your friends at Gfest know the oil spill in the gulf is a tragedy and we hope that a remedy will be discovered sooner rather later.

Gfest is a firm believer that humor play a large role in coping with tragedy. Thankfully some folks around the country have decided to give us a laugh by designing these images of the oil spill impacting characters we have known for quite some time.

Gfest could not find the artist for these images, please let us know who you are so we can give the credit and kudos you deserve.

Laugh a little. It's good for the soul.

Marvel Declares Nude Recreation Day is Now X-MEN Day

Marvel is releasing X-MEN #1 on July 8, the first X-MEN #1 in almost 20 years, so they took it upon themselves to just rename July 8th X-Men Day.  Problem is that our country was already scheduled to celebrate Nude Recreation Day on July 8th, so that takes some real balls on Marvel's part to try and steal it away.

Although Cyclops penis sure seems like its trying its best to get out of that spandex and celebrate a little nufe recreation on the comic's cover.

J.H. Williams Variant Cover American Vampire #4 is Beautiful

Gfest loves artist J.H. Williams III.  His art on Batman, Batwoman, Jonah Hex, Batman Beyond (upcoming), 7 Soldiers and many more has always been phenomenal.

Gfest was excited when Vertigo released J.H. Williams' variant cover to American Vampire #4, which arrives in stores on June 23.

The cover is gorgeous and we look forward to more art from J.H. Williams III in the very near future.

Sexy Supermodel Miranda Kerr Modeling Catholic School Girl Uniforms

Gfest is having a very, very hard time concentrating right now.  Feel fortunate we were able to muster the focus to post these UNBELIEVABLE pictures of the sexy and gorgeous Miranda Kerr in the Catholic School Girl meets fetish club photoshoot for Numero magazine.

Your friends at Gfest attended catholic school and did not run across a single girl at any catholic school that looked or dressed like Miranda in these photos.

We know, our faithful female readers out there may say, "Gfest this post is sexiest and has nothing to do with comics or pop culture!"   We know and apologize, but we are men (or boys) that spent 12 years in catholic schools (the real kind with mean nuns and everything) so please cut us some slack.  Just his once.

Click read more to see more of Miranda in school.  It's nearly blasphemy, but it's ok because it's art.  And, it's soooo worth it.

Thor Movie Concept Art Released - Includes First Look at Hammer

Concept art of Chris Hemsworth in the full Thor costume has come online today at Collider.

Of course, this is not the first time we've seen Hemsworth as Thor, but this time you get to see his lower body, and perhaps most significantly, we get to see the Norse god wielding his hammer, Mjolner. The art looks very similar to the official photo below.

What the the JLA Looks like on the iPhone vs. Android

Gfest found this post from Jase at about:blank that is damn funny.  Notice anything missing in the iPhone/iPad photo.

He's been gone for 30 years after saving the the universe and the brought back to help save humanity once again, only to be killed again by Steve Jobs.  Poor Barry.

'Frog Thunder' Thor/Muppets Mashup Art to Benefit Heroes Con

Talented cartoonist Robert Langridge just finished this wonderfully funny piece of art entitled, "Frog Thunder" to benefit Heroes Con.  Gfest loves the Muppets meet Thor mash-up.  Especially Gonzo as Loki.

HEROES CONVENTION was founded in 1982 by Shelton Drum, owner of Charlotte's Heroes Aren't Hard To Find comics shop. Since then the convention has become famous for its comics-first and family-friendly atmosphere, where fans can mingle directly with professionals and exhibitors.

HEROESCON 2010 will take place this weekend JUNE 4-6, 2010 at the Charlotte Convention Center, and promises to be the biggest convention ever!

If you're looking for something to do this weekend.  head on over to

New 'Transformers 3' Girl Auditioned In Her Panties

According to celebuzz Rosie Huntington Whitley may not have too much acting experience, but she appears to be an expert on Michael Bay and how things work in Hollywood.

Apparently, the sexy lingerie model scored her role as Megan Fox's replacement in Transformers 3 thanks to her audition outfit which was comprised of lingerie.

According to the source, Rosie wore a white see-through lingerie top and panties to the audition. No word on if the scene she actually read for involved her having to be in her underwear but we're pretty sure that Michael Bay appreciated her can-do attitude either way.

Mr. Tee Shirt is A-Team Worthy

Phil Jones may have created the the best t-shirt of the summer.  As if Gfest wasn't excited enough for the remake of the A-Team movie scheduled to release June 11, now we have this extraordinary t-shirt to wear.

The Mr. Tee ($20 from Threadless) is a conceptually creative light blue tee sporting a portrait of Mr. T that's been made out of t-shirts.  How cool is that?

Gfest Pity the fool that don't wear this shirt and get a mowhawk and buy lots of chains and drive a sweet 70s black van.

Gfest Game - Bitching a Classic

Bitching A Classic is a fun little game gfesters love to play, because it celebrates to extreme negativity of many comic book fans. We give you little snippets from ridiculously negative customer reviews on Amazon of highly regarded classics.  You see if you can guess the book.

Today's Clues:
  • The critics who liked this story would have you believe that this story makes superheroes more human, which is what they said about Watchmen. I've read Watchmen, and this isn't even close.
  • Overall, this is a story that DC should have looked at in great detail and rejected as utterly stupid.
  • Composes a story full of plot holes, bad characterization, and enough tired cliches to make any true fan of the genre wince.
  • This pretentious and sorry excuse of a graphic novel should be relegated to the rubbish heap where it belongs.  It heralds DC Comic's year-long spiral into a miasma of grim-and-grittiness not seen in the comics industry since the 1980s
  • How the Justice League finally finds out who was responsible for this murder is so inane I felt unclean after reading the last issue of the mini-series.
So, Which Classic Just Got Bitched Up?  Click HERE for the Answer.

2010 MTV Awards:Twilight's Robert Pattinson & Les Grossman (Tom Cruise)

Gfest thought Tom Cruise portraying Less Grossman a major studio executive was the best damn part of Tropic Thunder.  Don't get us wrong we liked Tropic Thunder and found it to be very, very funny, but you have to admit Tom Cruise stole the show.

MTV released a damn funny preview for the Award show this Sunday (June 6) featuring Tom Cruise and everyone favorite dirty, greasy vampire, Robert Pattinson.  You can watch the skit below.  Enjoy the awesomeness of Less Grossman.

Funny Star Wars Shirt - Han's Guitar Solo

Han Solo was always a rebel, a loner.  He was always two seconds away from leaving his friends behind to seek his own personal gain.

It's Classic Han Solo.  It's also classic behavior from the lead singer in a rock band -- which makes this Han Guitar Solo Star Wars themed t shirt such a perfect fit.

New Batman: Brave and the Bold Video Game Trailer

Gfest loves anything Batman (as if you didn't know that).  We love Batman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, The Adventures of Batman and Robin, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, The Batman, and Batman the Brave and the Bold.  We have watched every single episode of each series (ya, we know that's why we are your favorite geeks) and always wanted a decent video game to play modeled after these series.

Well know we may finally have one.  Warner Brothers says:
The Brave and the Bold the Videogame fully immerses fans into the vivid animated world of the successful TV series where kids can play as Batman or together with family and friends in two-player co-op mode. Players can choose from iconic characters ROBIN, GREEN LANTERN, BLUE BEETLE, along with drop-in heroes such as AQUAMAN to help solve puzzles and fight foes. The game also features the majority of the great voice talent responsible for characters in the animated TV series.
Gfest thinks Batman + Wii = amazing.  Enjoy the trailer for this game below.

First Look at Frank Miller's 300 Prequel

Frank Miller is making making Xerxes, a graphic novel preview to 300.  The picture to the right is the title character; the comic will be a six-issues mini-series released by Dark Horse in 2011.

According to Topless Robot,  the story will be the same heft as 300 but it cover a much, much greater span of time -- it's 10 years, not three days," Miller told the Los Angeles Times this week. "This is a more complex story. The story is so much larger. The Spartans in 300 were being enclosed by the page as the world got smaller. This story has truly vast subjects. The Athenian naval fleet, for instance, is a massive artistic undertaking and it dwarfed by the Persian fleet, which is also shown in this story. The story has elements of espionage, too, and it's a sweeping tale with gods and warriors." He also said that while Xerxes is the title character, the protagonist is Themistocles, the famed Athenian politician and general.

Gfest doesn't know if this is going to be a really good story or really, really bad story.   Seems more designed for Hollywood than comic book fans but we'll reserve judgment since it's Frank Miller.

First Pictures from AMC's The Walking Dead Adaption

AMC's has officially begun production of their new TV series based on the Robert Kirkman comic "The Walking Dead." The first season will only be six-episodes long, which quite honestly sucks, but its hard to complain too much after you see the preview pictures of the zombies.  They look AWESOME.

The show follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, traveling in search of a safe and secure home after a zombie apocalypse.

AMC provided SuperheroHype with the video below, in which Produce/Director Frank Darabont discusses his inspiration for doing a series about zombies, the thrust of this survival story and his goal to "do for zombies what 'Mad Men' has done for advertising."

Photos of Immigrants as Superheroes, Seriously!

Our role models at Comic Alliance created one of the funniest posts we have seen in a long, long time.  It takes a lot to make Gfest laugh out loud just looking at something but this made us fall of our chairs.

Although these post at first glance are very funny, the pictures prompt a discussion about immigration policy in our country.
"Most of the U.S. national news about immigration is very sad: bitter political disputes in Arizona, or images of desperate immigrants trying to cross the border," photographer Dulce Pinzón wrote, describing the motivation for her photo essay for Foreign Policy.
You know what, Gfest just thinks they're funny.  We are not here to sway your political views.  We are here to make you laugh and take a few minutes to enjoy life's simply pleasures while you spend the rest of your day busting your ass.  But if you would like to read Dulce's Pinzon's article (it is an eye opening read) please head on over to Foreign Policy.

With that said, click read more to see more funny pictures.

DC Variant Covers for Red Hood: Lost Days #1

The Source released two covers for the upcoming Judd Winick and Pablo Raimondi RED HOOD: LOST DAYS #1.  Thankfully, these two are joining forces to reveal the origins of the Red Hood in a six-issue mini-series that spotlights an angry young man’s transformation into one of Batman’s deadliest foes.

The series will ship its first two issues in anticipation of the arrival of BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD DVD arriving in stores. The DVD, the next entry in the popular ongoing series of DC UNIVERSE Animated Original PG-13 Movies, hits July 27 from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation and showcases Batman confronting new enemies, old foes and painful memories as a powerful vigilante with a penchant for violence comes to Gotham to stake his claim on the city.
