Disney’s long awaited sequel Tron Legacy hitting theaters next month, but if you're one of those old school 1980s fans that cannot get enough Tron then you are going to be real, real happy. Variety reports Disney XD has ordered Tron: Uprising an animated series being developed for release in the summer of 2012. Charlie Bean (Samurai Jack) will executive produce and direct the series 20 and Tron Legacy
writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz will serve as consulting
producers.
Heading into the world of Tron and lending their voices to the animated series will be Elijah Wood (Everything is Illuminated), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage), Mandy Moore (Tangled), Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee’s Playhouse), Lance Henriksen (Cyrus) and Bruce Boxleitner reprising his franchise role as Tron.
In September, it was announced that the original Tron: Uprising
would be a ten part mini-series in which a young program named Beck
stands up against an evil regime headed by Clu who obtains his status
after the defeat of Tron, the security watchdog program.
However, Collider reports that
information is not true and Tron: Uprising is completely
independent of that mini-series which will air in the fall of
2011. We've got a sh#t load of Tron to look forward to after Tron Legacy hits theaters on December 17th.

Neil Gaiman Gets Animated as a Half Breed Cat on Arthur

Neil Gaiman is set to make a visit to Elwood City for a Halloween week guest appearance as himself on the animated PBS series Arthur. Well, himself if he was spliced with some cat DNA.
Gaiman’s role comes in an episode called “Falafelosophy,” inspiring one
of the kids who’s interested in writing and illustrating a graphic
novel. It’s paired with what sounds like a suitable companion story,
“Tales of the Grotesquely Grim Bunny,” about changes on the shelves at
the local comic shop.
“With
luck,” the Sandman
author blogged a couple weeks back, “it’ll have
kids all over the world making their own little graphic novels, and will
usher in the dawn of a new golden age of comics and creativity.”
I confess that in the world of animated TV shows, I've always thought Arthur was, well he kind of sucks. Even my kids agree with me, and they'd watch just about anything on TV.
But it's still cool to see comic book writers cross over into the world of mainstream media, especially for the Gaiman fans of the world.
But if Gaiman thinks he's going to save the world of comic books with this appearance, or that this is a cooler appearance than Alan Moore, Dan Clowes and Art Speigelman doing a comic book store signing in an episode of the Simpsons, then he's clearly dreaming.

DC Entertainment Releases ALL STAR SUPERMAN TRAILER
MTV has gotten it's hands on the trailer for All Star Superman, the animated adaptation of the Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely comics considered by most Comic/Superman fans to be the finest hour yet for the Man of Steel.
The movie adaption rarely lives up to it's literary predecessor, so I am not disappointed in this trailer. While I would love to see the entire movie in Frank Quietly's beautiful work, I am a realist and understand this is not possible.
All Star Superman is one my favorite books, and I am very excited to see how Bruce Timm and the gang bring this book to life. Enjoy the first trailer below.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Named Best Animated Bromance of All Time
Our friends at the Daily Contributor have ranked the Top 50 Animated Bromances of All Time, and named the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1. The term “bromance” may in and of itself be new, but the truth is, characters on film and television have been bromancing for a long time.
Urban Dictionary defines a “bromance” as a term that “Describes the complicated love and affection shared by two straight males.” The Daily Contributor stretched that definition to include trios and larer groups. Fair enough.

First Look at Disney's New 3D MovieTangled
Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) has been trapped in a tower for, like, ever in the second teaser trailer for Disney’s upcoming 3D animated feature, Tangled.
Despite Disney’s brief return to traditional hand-drawn animation with last year’s The Princess and the Frog, Tangled will be a 3D computer-crafted venture in the vein of their 2008 feature, Bolt. Most of their future projects will be developed in a similar fashion, as 2D animation is regarded as more old-fashioned and lacking in terms of wide appeal with today’s moviegoers.
