Jim Lee's X-MEN Toilet

We at Gfest love comic book art in all forms. That goes double when you're talking about the art of Jim Lee. ONe of the fine members of eBay shares our love and has decorated a toilet of all things with art from Jim Lee's X-Men #1.  Surprisingly, the results were pretty awesome.

X-Men #1 (1991) is the number one selling comic book of all time, selling over 7 MILLION copies. It was released with 4 variant covers and a "deluxe" edition with a gatefold cover and glossy pages.  One of each of the variants along with a deluxe, gave their lives to decorate this '70s era Standard American toilet.

The issues were deconstructed, panel by panel, cover by cover using scissors and X-Acto blades. Hundreds of separate images were glued to every square inch (other than water holes) of the bowl, tank, seat, and lids.
Bidding starts at only $400!

Buy a Tron Legacy Lightcycle for $35,000

From the makers of the Custom Batpod comes the latest movie-inspired motorbike: the Tron Legacy Lightcycle ($35,000).  While the movie doesn't hit theaters until December, anyone who saw the original knows the lightcycle races will be the highlight of the film, making the five Lightcycles instant classics. Unlike the Batpod, these are built to be street-legal, with custom 22-inch hubless wheels, custom Hoosier tires, electric or gasoline motors, two-inch hardened steel frames, carbon fiber/fiberglass bodies, and neon hidden behind frosted plexiglass for the accent colors.

By The Numbers - Blackest Night Comic Book Sales

  • The Blackest Night Event, which took place over 75 different DC comic books, including tie-in issues, sold 5.7 million comics, with a retail value of more than $19.4 million
  • The cost to purchase one copy of every Blackest Night related issue was $251. A recent eBay item which offered the same 75 comics, ended at $117.
  • Of the 5.7 million total comics sold, 2.9 million were written directly by Geoff Johns, with a total retail value of $10.4 million.
  • The Blackest Night event had 15 separate issues with sales of over 100,000.
  • The top selling Blackest Night issue was Blackest Night #1 with sales of more than 200k copies. The worst selling Blackest night title was REBELS #11, with sales of just over 30k.
  • DC Comics charged $2.99 for issues of both Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps during the Blackest Night event. Had they charged $3.99, like they did most of the other related titles, DC would have raised another $1.6 million.
  • In January, DC brought back eight cancelled titles for a onetime special Blackest Night tie-in issue. Atom and Hawkman #46 by Geoff Johns was the most popular of these titles. The least popular in terms of sales was Weird Western Tales #71, written by Dan Didio.
  • DC Comics published seven different three issue supplemental titles. The most popular of these was Blackest Night Batman (270k copies sold) while the least popular was Blackest Night JSA (182k copies sold).
  • In November, DC Comics began publishing a two issue Blackest Night story in six existing titles (Outsiders, Adventure Comics, REBELS, Booster Gold, Doom Patrol and Justice League of America). Fans that purchased the first of the two issues were given a free promotional lantern corps ring. Total sales for the second issues in these six titles fell by more than 120k copies, or 30%.
  • DC Comics offered promotional rings that represented each of the various lantern corps. The set of eight, which was free with purchase of the titles listed above, will cost you $15 to purchase on Amazon today.

Full Scale Working Replica of Dark Knight Batpod on Ebay

This Gfestastic Batpod was created by eBay user badrobot2002.

The item is described as "a full scale 1:1 working replica of the famous 'Batpod' ridden by Batman in ... 'The Dark Knight,'" completely created by hand and "scaled from the original bike for superior accuracy and feel." It comes equipped with "grappling hooks, grenade launchers, and 40 caliber machine guns for those traffic jams on the freeway," though all of these weapons are thankfully non-functional.

Gfest would love to own the Batpod, but we understand that we would probably kill ourselves within a matter of minutes.  So for all you avid bikers here's your chance to win yourself this one-of-a-king batpod, head on over to eBay.

1941 Capt. America Jack Kirby & Joe Simon Page for Sale

Our friends at bleedingcool, found a very cool ebay auction - an original page of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby-credited Captain America art, from issue 6, dated from 1941. The beautiful page has Cap and Bucky fighting some seriously dodgy racial caricatures to boot.

Apparently, the page previously sold for $38,000 but the bidder didn’t complete the sale.  Wife, mother or girlfriend must have put the kibosh on the sale after realizing it was a $38,000 purchase. Poor bastard!

If you want to purchase your friends at Gfest an early birthday present, here’s your chance to show us some love.  Click here it's only going for a mere $7,100 right now.  Pocket change for you followers of Gfest.
