Meet Darth Maul's Brother: Clone Wars Season Three - Savage Opress Theatrical Trailer

Head over to StarWars.com and check the availability of tickets left for their theatrical showing of the episode of Clone Wars that introduces us to Savage Oppress, Darth Maul’s brother.

As part of the announcement LucasArts provided all us fans with one of the best trailers we've seen for Star Wars The Clone Wars.

The trailer is amazing and the storyline for here on out looks to be exactly what we expect from this wonderful show.  Watch it and enjoy.

First Look at Cartoon Network's Green Lantern Animated Series at NYCC 10

Here's your first look at Green Lantern: The Animated Series, coming to Cartoon Network in 2011. Warner Bros. Animation, which is producing the show, will preview the upcoming DC Comics adaptation for fans at this weekend's New York Comic Con at the Jacob K. Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side.

Executive producer Bruce Timm — whose infinite credits include the beloved animated series starring Batman, Superman and the Justice League — will headline the panel on Saturday at 2:30pm, alongside producer Giancarlo Volpe (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and producer/story editor Jim Krieg (Ben 10: Alien Swarm). Following the panel, from 4:00 to 5:00pm, the team will be signing posters (with this image) at the DC Comics booth.

Green Lantern, one of DC's most popular superheroes, is a member of an intergalactic police force dedicated to protecting the universe. He wields a power ring that can create hard-light constructs of any object he imagines.

It will be a big year for the character, who also headlines a feature film, opening June 17, 2011 with Ryan Reynolds in the title role.

Sweet, Sweet 70's Goodness: Scooby Doo and Batman to Reunite in 'The Brave and the Bold' Episode

I remember it like yesterday, the 1972 meetings in "The New Scooby Doo Movies" features "The Caped Crusader Caper," and "The Dynamic Scooby Doo Affair," Scooby Doo will once again team up with the Dark Knight in an upcoming episode of "Batman: The Brave and the Bold."

If the episode titled "Bat-Mite Presents: Batman's Strangest Cases!," is any indication, Batman and Scooby Doo's crossover will likely follow the kind of rules only an inter-dimensional imp would muster.

According to The Comics Continuum, the episode will feature three different incarnations of Batman, with Scooby starring in one segment along with a special (likely celebrity) guest star playing themselves. It probably won't be the Harlem Globe Trotters, but writer Paul Dini and director Ben Jones are the kind of force that will make the most of this premise.

The episode's other two planned persona's are currently unknown, but it should be interesting to see which Batmen make the cut.

The Justice League and Justice League Unlimted were the last tow shows on cartoon network that I can remember getting giddy about on a weekly basis. That was until Star Wars the Clone Wars began nearly three years ago. Now, my Friday nights are consumed with Jedi goodness. Who Wants Their Own Robot Chicken?

Gfest does.  We've been big fans of Robot Chicken since it's inception.  Who could forget the superhero big brother/real world sketch.  A classic!

Geek Chic Daily exclusively unveiled the new Robot Chicken action figure coming our way very soon from toymaker Jazwares. It’s part of the first wave of toys from the Adult Swim hit, a wave which will also include smaller-scaled figures of the Mad Scientist with the Chicken, the Humping Robot (packaged with a humpable washing machine), the Candy Bear caught in a bear trap and the first available figure, a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive of the show’s signature Nerd character.

Cartoon Network Reveals New Looney Toons

The full line up of new-look Looney Tunes has been unveiled from designer Jessica Borutski who redesigned them for the upcoming animated TV series for the Cartoon Network, The Looney Tunes Show. She writes;

"Here they are!! Man I had fun drawing these guys, I love this job SOOO MUCH!!Marisol and Petunia are my personal favorites.

I gave them slightly different proportions that emphasize things I always liked about the characters. An example is Bugs’ feet. I streamlined them and made them bigger. I thought it would look awesome in a walk cycle and be really fun to animate in general.
I spent six months creating a show bible…new turnarounds, notes and drawings showing the new designs…"

Cartoon Network is Planning a "Green Lantern" Animated Series

Hollywood Reporter has broken the news of the year so far!  An animated Green Lantern cartoon is on its way!
Phil Kent, chairman and CEO of Time Warner's Turner networks unit, showed a slide with some of Cartoon Network's original programming at Time Wwarner's investor day.

It included the title "Green Lantern: The Animated Series."

Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Barry Meyer said this is an example of increasing collaboration and coordination between his unit and Turner. He said the show is based on Warner's "Green Lantern" movie, scheduled for a June 17, 2011 release.

The TV series is expected to launch shortly after the film's release.

The Goddamn Batman Has a Potty Mouth

This was actually a commercial from Cartoon Network's [adult swim] from way back in the day. This makes so much more sense.  I always wondered why nobody ever swore will fighting for the safety of themselves, their parterns or their city.

Why Does DC Comics Hate Female Superheroes?

A DC Executive recently said in an interview: 

"We had originally planned to do sequels for Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, but Wonder Woman’s sales started out extremely slow... that there wouldn’t be any more female superhero films right now. We were developing and hoping to get started on a batgirl film based on Year One, but because of Wonder Woman’s slow sales start, that won’t be happening now.

"With Green Lantern, it didn’t perform nearly as well as what they had hoped it would. In the long run it eventually made its money back, but the sales weren’t there right away during its release. Hopefully with the release of the Live Action film next year, that will open up the doors for more Green Lantern relate material."   Gfest

Eh, what's up, doc? Bugs and gang are back!

Cartoon Network is launching a new version of the classic Warner Bros. series "Looney Tunes."

The Looney Toons Show" will star Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, along with Yosemite Sam, Tweety, Sylvester -- the whole gang. Weirdly, the network is having each episode as a half-hour story along with "cartoons within a cartoon." The concept takes Bugs and Daffy out of the woods (awww) and puts them into the suburbs (arrrh!) with "colorful neighbors." You would think in the age of YouTube, re-embracing the show's original seven-minute short-form format would be the smart play here instead of trying for a weekly version of "Desperate Houseduck."

"Looney Tunes" will also having classic characters singing original songs in two-minute music videos called Merrie Melodies and the Road Runner and Coyote in CG shorts.

DC Comics to Bring Young Justice & MAD Magazine to Cartoon Network

An animated version of the DC Comics teen superteam Young Justice got its official announcement today via DC's The Source Blog and the Cartoon Network 2010 upfront previews. The show should be based on the Peter David and Todd Nauck comic of the same name.  The "Young Justice" series will feature a "junior Justice League" consisting of Superboy, Robin, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Artemis and Aqualad.

In other news, Cartoon Network also announced plans for a satirical "MAD Magazine" cartoon which will operate as an anthology-style show featuring "some familiar faces on screen and big names behind the scenes. The show will unleash MAD’s irreverent take on pop culture and today’s headlines, and feature classic characters including Alfred E. Neuman and Spy Vs. Spy. Our partners at Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network are helping DC Entertainment revitalize the cherished MAD brand across all media,” DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson told The Source.
