Celebrity Auditions for the Role of Yoda in Star Wars

Yoda is an incredibly powerful Jedi Master in the Star Wars universe. Series creator George Lucas originally wished Yoda to follow his other characters in having a full name: Minch Yoda, but instead opted to have many details of the character's life history remain unknown. 

He also auditioned several celebrities for the roll of Yoda before deciding to go the puppet/CGI route for the character.  Here are the characters who made it to the finals.  Lose out to Puppet Yoda they did.

Kilowog to Join the Obama Corps?

You can take all of your Barack Obama Spiderman comic books and shove them, because THIS is clearly the best crossover between President Obama and the world of comic books. 

Kilowog yelling "Yes We Can Poozers" to a group of new Green Lantern recruits just seems right.  Well its seems right until all those recruits then go out and get slaughtered in the next big attack on the Green Lanterns.  Seriously, we love the old big guy, but when's the last time one of Kilowog's trainees wasn't killed within the first year?  Blackest Night seemed to clear out all of them. 

Wonder if the Green Lantern Corps has universal health care?

Obama's Government Shuts Down Six Comic Book Websites - Gfest Safe!

The AP is reporting that the federal government has shut down six websites run by a Florida man that allowed visitors to view Batman and other comic books for free without permission from the publishers or authors.

ComicBooksFree.com, HTMLcomics.com, and PlayboyMonthly.com were among the domain names run by Gregory Steven Hart that are now in custody of the US Government, which is supposedly run by the most comic book friendly President in US History.

"We have taken civil action to shut down the websites and take custody of the website domains," said Steve Cole, the spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Tampa.

Barack Obama's Peace Plan? Send In Superman & Batman

Apparently part of President Barack Obama's plan to make the Muslim world hate our country less is to intiate a cultural outreach.  USA Today is reporting that Obama plan's will include a comic book series in which Superman and Batman work with their Muslim counterparts.

Sure, I can see Superman going over on a Nation Building excercise at the request of the President of the United States.  Superman always does what the President asks.  But Batman?  On a peace mission?

I'm sorry Mr. President,  but Batman does not do peace missions.  Batman kicks ass.  I thought we finally had a President that knew his Superheroes?

Also, I assume Obama didn't invite Robin (TheTim Drake Robin not the new punk imposter) because Chuck Dixon, the writer most associated with Tim, has always said Tim was Jewish in his mind.  Not very open minded Mr. President.

In gfest's mind, this is much cooler than the ridiculously popular Obama - Spiderman team up.

President Barack Obama has often been called the Geek in Chief.  The guy has not tried to hide his love of certain aspects of Geek culture.

His Star Wars tie-ins are particularly interesting.  Much like Annakin Skywalker, he was introduced as our savior, and the one who could restore balance to the world.  Two years into his Presidency, it seems like most Americans believe he's turned to Darth Vader.  If you believe in opinion polls that is.

President Barack Obama tours a secret US Military factory where they are trying to develop Green Lantern rings.  I'd join the military tomorrow if it came with a Green Lantern Ring!
