DC Set to Release New & Improved LUTHOR Hardcover Book

October sees the release of the NEW AND IMPROVED Luthor. A new hardcover collection of the original mini-series by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo with all new story pages (half an issue’s worth) and bonus sketchbook material.

Also, when DC sayd new story material, they really mean it. They've actually added new sequences throughout the book as well as adding pieces to existing scenes and re-shuffling the position of others.

This ‘new cut’ really enhances the original story and broadens it. For example, here are a couple pages we added to issue three, sans coloring and lettering.

In the original version, the fight between Superman and Batman was cut off towards the end. These two new pages continue the last page of the fight and allow readers to really find out what Superman was after.

These pages are beautiful.  The scene with Superman and Batman is amazing.  I normally do not rebuy "updates" books.  I am going to make an exception this time.

Mega-Talent Brian K Vaughn Resurfaces With a Fox TV Show

Ever since the announcement that he was leaving the writing cast of LOST and wrapping up his work on Ex Machina, gfest has been anxiously waiting to hear what Brian K Vaughn would be doing next.  In a Lost podcast, series executive producer Damon Lindelof announced Vaughn has left the show for ‘”greener pastures”.

We originally speculated that he was leaving to go work on TV or movie adaptations of Y: The Last Man and Ex Machina, both of which were in various stages of development.  However, Vaughn surprised us once again.

The wildly innovative and successful writer has finally resurfaced in a new report from Deadline Hollywood, who says the lauded creator of "Y: The Last Man" will make his comeback with "Smokers," a new Fox television series produced by "Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi's production company.

Smokers is described as a "high-concept drama about a documentary crew following working class heroes who exterminate alien threats in deep space." The one-line description leaves a lot to the imagination, but if its based on BKV's imagination you can count us in.

The "Smokers" project is part of a hat-trick deal on the part of Raimi's Stars Road, who've sold three different hour-long series to three different network. No launch date or other details have been announced.

Super Sexy Batgirl Halloween Costumes for 2010 (Possibly NSFW)

Going for the sexy and heroic look on this Halloween can be a superb and different idea. There are a plenty of ideas to look absolutely stunning and raise the temperatures in the Halloween party - none better than a sexy superhero. This dazzling look will take care of the stiff competition from other quarters even as everyone tries to outshine each other to become the crowing glory of the night.

Last week we started our weekly Halloween feature which highlights one sexy superhero costume each week until October 31. Hopefully these costumes will provide a bit of inspiration for our lovely and beautiful female readers to wear to this years party.

Enjoy Batgirl!

Pure Rapist Seems More Appropriate

This is taking the whole manga - tenticle rape thing to a new level.

I thought the rumors were that James Franco didn't like to eat pussy?

So Kermit is into Fisting.

As if Gingers weren't scary enough already.

Can't tell what's gayer:
This gender confused stormtrooper or the guy behind him who went in a Firestorm costume.

I'll be screaming it to the 911 operator to come save me.

I'm sure the three guys in this picture appreciate the new marketing plan.

Can we PLEASE not let Dick Grayson be Batman anymore?  It's embarrassing.

Darren Aronofsky to Direct Garth Ennis' PREACHER?

Darren Aronofsky is busy but very lucky man. It was reported yesterday that he is rumored to be in the hunt to direct the Superman reboot, now Newsarama is reporting that Darren Aronofsky may also be interested in directing Preacher and that it's likely he'll have to choose one project over the other, as both are slated to move into development soon.

Preacher, based on the Vertigo series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon that ran in the late '90's, tells the story of Texas reverend Jesse Custer who, after merging with the escaped offspring of a demon and an angel, find himself imbued with the word of God, the power to command anyone to do his bidding. Teamed with his ex girlfriend, Tulip O'Hare and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, Custer sets out across America to track down the almighty and force him to explain why he abandoned creation.

Preacher has been rumored for development almost as far back as the series' debut in 1995, but was most recently in development with Sam Mendes directing and a script in the works from John August. It is uncertain whether or not Aronofsky, if he took the project, would work from the same draft.

This is a tough call for me.  I think Aronofsky would do a great job as the director on the Superman reboot, but I am a huge fan of Ennis' Preacher and would love to see the story move forward as movie(s).  If I was God, I would choose Aronofsky to direct the Preacher.  It's a a unique story that needs someone with his film background (pi, Requiem for a Dream, Wrestler and The Fountain) to direct and shepherd through the process.  What do you think?

Stan Lee and Mark Waid's 'The Traveler' gets a Trailer

Written by Waid with art by Amazing Spider-Man artist Chad Hardin, The Traveler deals with a time-jumper who tangles with a crew of super powered assassins from the future known as the Split-Second Men. The hero doesn’t play by the standard rules of time-travel stories, Waid said.

“This guy doesn’t care whether he messes with history or not,” he said. “As a matter of fact, this is the kind of guy who, if he were standing in Dealey Plaza in 1963, he wouldn’t let Kennedy be killed…. What you see is what are the repercussions if you’re willing to actually tamper in time.”

“We should have called it The Tamperer,” Lee interjected, laughing.

The Traveler release in November, and BOOM! Studios wants to entice you once again to pick up the series from Mark Waid and Chad Hardin. (via: Major Spoilers)

39 Years of Homer J. Simpson

Ironically, this picture was created by Homer J. Simpson.  22 years and counting.  The Simpsons will out last us all.  Doh!

The Legend of Buzz Light Year

Lily fox created an unintentional  mash-up that will take you from Hyrule to infinity and beyond.  Buzz Light Year as Link in the Legend of Zelda. I don't believe this is what Lily intended, she was going for Buzz as a Space Marine.  Regardless, Gfest loves Lily's work, and I have to say Buzz would make playing Zelda a hell of  lot easier.  I can sense Gannon and Zurg shaking in their boots.

Why Mario & Luigi Keep Yoshi Around

Michael Bisparulz created this funny picture of Mario & Luigi going to town on Yoshi's eggs.  Most be some good sh*t in those eggs.

Nintendo Wants You to Waste Money on Another Useless Remote

IGN is reporting that the new Wii Remote Plus is a go. So get ready to discard your Wii Remote and Motion Plus add on (don't get mad you only spent $40-$50 on them) and get ready to shell out more money for a new remote. It's not like the Motion Plus add on wasn't useful. We had what 3 or 4 games we could use it on. It seems like a wise move.  At least we are not in a recession!

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced at a press briefing in Japan last night the existence of the Wii Remote Plus, a combination of the Wii Remote and Wii MotionPlus peripheral. "For the convenience of the users, Nintendo is developing Wii Remote Plus, which integrates Wii Remote and Wii MotionPlus," Iwata said. "We will announce the details of this controller on our web sites and through other media at some later date."

Which Cover to SUPERMAN #9 do You Like Best?

One of Gfest's favorite sites is covered, a website where artist reinterpret comic book covers.  Daniel Garber did a very creative alternative cover to John Byrne's Superman #9 featuring the Joker.  I love his rendition.  What do you think?

New SKYLINE Trailer and Images Released (it looks good, real good)

Universal has released the first full trailer for its alien invasion movie Skyline and it looks damn good.  The special effects are amazing and the storyline (at least from what I have read and seen in the trailer) looks pretty damn solid. Anytime you have special effects and aliens, I'm sold!

Directed by the Brothers Strause (Alien vs. Predator: Requiem), the premise of the movie is strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth.

The cast consists of a bunch of folks you probably have never heard of, which may not be a bad thing.   They are Donald Faison, Eric Balfour, David Zayas, Scottie Thompson, and Brittany Daniel. (source: collider)
