Scott Pilgrim Vs. The Matrix World Mashup Trailer

The real beauty of a good mashup is when you just can't intially conceive it working.  This movie trailer mashes up Scott Pilgrim vs. the World with The Matrix films.  If you're like me, that doesn't sound like its going to work mashed up together.

But I was wrong.  Very wrong. Because they are perfect together.

All Six SCOTT PILGRIM Books Now on iPad & iPhone

Yesterday's announcement from ComiXology that the all six volumes of O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim graphic novels are now available on the iPad, iPhone, and on the web at comics.comixology.com. Published in print by Oni Press, the volumes are priced at $6.99 for 1 through 5, and $11.99 (cover price) for Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour, the sixth and final volume released to bookstores last month.

It’s another digital coup for market leader ComiXology, but the Scott Pilgrim comics actually aren’t available for purchase through the distributor’s simply named Comics app. Rather, a separate free app must be downloaded to buy the comics, which are then viewed through the Comics app (or the web). A bit roundabout, but that’s the deal.

Damn it! Like I needed another reason to be pissed that I do not own an iPad. Although, I already own all six volumes of Scott Pilgrim, but still iPads are cool and comic books on an iPad is even cooler. I want one!

Scott Pilgrim, Blackest Night dominate New York Times

The New York Times spotlights the debut of author Janet Evanovich's first graphic novel Troublemaker atop its graphic books bestseller list. The title's performance probably should be expected, though, considering the popularity of her novels.

What's more interesting is the domination of the hardcover and paperback charts by two series: DC Comics' Black Night collections, and the entire run of Oni Press' Scott Pilgrim.

Buoyed by the release last week of the final volume of Bryan Lee O'Malley's acclaimed series, and anticipation for the Aug. 13 debut of Edgar Wright's film adaptation, the Scott Pilgrim books claimed the top six spots on the paperback list, with Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour debuting at No. 1.

Meanwhile, on the hardcover list, five Blackest Night collections fell into place behind Evanovich's novel: Blackest Night: Black Lantern Corps, Vols. 1 and 2; Blackest Night; Blackest Night: Green Lantern; and Blackest Night: Green Lantern Corps.

SWEET Scott Pilgrim Release Party Flyer by Michael DeForge

Toronto-based artcomix enfant terrible Michael DeForge did the honors for this flyer advertising the release party for the sixth and final volume in Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim series, Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour. It's always fun to see O'Malley's distinctive character designs filtered through an artist with a totally different sensibility -- and yet DeForge's take on them seems just as much like a relic from some lost, demented TurboGrafx16 game.

Scott Pilgrim (& Ramona) Plushes Action Figures Announced

Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O'Malley Tweeted about the plushes yesterday (before launching a conversation debating the differences/similarities between hipsters and nerds) that very likely resulted in some serious cleared shelf and or bed space of fans across the Web.

The upcoming Mezco plushes bear spot-on likenesses of O'Malley's SP illustrations, which gives credence to the idea that additional characters could eventually see stores. I'd certainly be down for some action figures to go with them, but for now I'll remain content with the adorableness due out in July - just in time for the "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" hits on Aug. 13.

New Scott Pilgrim Movie Trailer Rocks!

Gfest loves Scott Pilgrim which is a comic book series by Bryan Lee O'Malley.  In case you have not a chance to read this wonderfully kooky series, below is a brief synopsis.
A bass guitarist for garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams...literally. The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him. Genre-smashing filmmaker Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) tells the amazing story of one romantic slacker's quest to power up with love in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It's getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart's ass—and now is back in town—to the teenage distraction he's trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn't been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes controls her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor.

As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues' gallery from her past—from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsome identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.

Gfest cannot wait for the sixth and final volume of this series to be released on July 20 and the movie to open on August 13.  Sit back and enjoy this brand new trailer for the movie.
