First Look at Chris Evans in His Captain America Costume

Entertainment Weekly released the first look at Chris Evans in one of the most famous costumes in all of comic books, Captain America.  The entire costume is not viewable from the cover of EW, but from the picture, I very much like what I see.  The shield looks cool as well.  The chinks in it make it look very authentic.  If you're a fan of Captain America you have to be happy that Joe Johnston got the costume right. To read the entire article from Entertainment Weekly click on either of the links above.

What do you think?  Did they get it right?

Emma Stone is Gwen Tracy in New SPIDER-MAN Movie

In recent days, it looked like Emma Stone, the 21-year-old star of current release Easy A, was a lock to play red-haired Mary Jane in 2012’s Marc Webb-directed Spider-Man film. In a strange twist, Stone will actually play Gwen Stacy, the other (blonde) love of Peter Parker’s life.

I like Emma Stone (she's got that Anna Farris quality) and think she will do a great job in this movie. I am surprised that she is not playing Mary Jane, a role that seems a perfect fit for her. Regardless of the casting, she's a definite plus for 2012 movie.
CULVER CITY, Calif., October 5, 2010 –Emma Stone has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming Spider-Man film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, it was announced today by Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures. Stone has been tapped for the role of Gwen Stacy opposite Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. The film, to be directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and produced by Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin, will begin production in December and will be released in theaters nationwide in 3D on July 3, 2012. The casting continues an association between Sony Pictures Entertainment and the actress, who previously starred in Superbad, The House Bunny, and Zombieland, all for Columbia Pictures; she may currently be seen in Screen Gems’ hit comedy Easy A, and takes a cameo role in Screen Gems’ upcoming Friends with Benefits.

Commenting on the announcement, Tolmach said, “It’s been an incredible journey for us to watch Emma’s star rise as an actress. She is extraordinarily talented and has a very special on-screen spark that is perfect for this role. Given her history with the studio, casting her in one of our most important franchises is a real thrill.”

Webb added, “The chemistry between Andrew and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice. At the heart of the story of Peter Parker is not only the amazing Spider-Man, but also an ordinary teenager who is wondering what he has to do to get the girl. Andrew and Emma will bring everything audiences expect to these roles, but also make them their own. Much to my surprise, it was fun to find out that our choice for Gwen (Emma) is also a natural blonde.”
Emma Stone can currently be seen starring in Screen Gems’ hit comedy Easy A. Next year, she will star in Warner Bros.’ Crazy, Stupid, Love opposite Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling and in The Help, the adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s bestselling novel; she also takes a cameo role in Screen Gems’ Friends with Benefits and will voice a role in DreamWorks Animation’s comedy The Croods. Stone’s recent credits include Paperman, Zombieland, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, The House Bunny, The Rocker, and Superbad.

Marvel’s RUNAWAYS to Shoot in March; Re-Titled to “SMALL FACES”?

Marvel’s RUNAWAYS is set to begin filming in March 2011. Production Weekly tweets that shooting will take place in Los Angeles, which is where Brian K. Vaughan’s comic is set. The series centers on a group of teenagers who go on the run when they discover that their parents are supervillains. While on the lam, they each learn they’ve inherited particular gifts and abilities.

Interestingly, PW tweets that the movie is called “The Runaways (aka “Small Faces”). If Marvel is choosing to rename the project, it’s likely because they want to avoid confusion with the music biopic starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning that came out earlier this year. However, do you really believe Marvel would allow the title "Small Faces?"

No more information was released by Marve about this image so for the time being we can only speculate on how cool this miniseries is going to be over the next 6 months.

Photos of Immigrants as Superheroes, Seriously!

Our role models at Comic Alliance created one of the funniest posts we have seen in a long, long time.  It takes a lot to make Gfest laugh out loud just looking at something but this made us fall of our chairs.

Although these post at first glance are very funny, the pictures prompt a discussion about immigration policy in our country.
"Most of the U.S. national news about immigration is very sad: bitter political disputes in Arizona, or images of desperate immigrants trying to cross the border," photographer Dulce Pinzón wrote, describing the motivation for her photo essay for Foreign Policy.
You know what, Gfest just thinks they're funny.  We are not here to sway your political views.  We are here to make you laugh and take a few minutes to enjoy life's simply pleasures while you spend the rest of your day busting your ass.  But if you would like to read Dulce's Pinzon's article (it is an eye opening read) please head on over to Foreign Policy.

With that said, click read more to see more funny pictures.

DC Comics Screwing it's Faithful Weekly Readers

In August, DC Comics will begin offering 32-page comic book titles with a $3.99 cover price in their DC Universe family of titles. A spokesperson for the publisher declined to comment further on the change, but confirmed that the new price point, first noticed by fans in DC's August 2010 solicitations, is indeed accurate and official.

Previously, all 32-page DC titles were priced at $2.99 and the publisher only used the $3.99 price point for extra-length books, most featuring a main title feature, and an 8 to 10-page back-up story, or co-feature.

Sneak Peak at the Thor Movie

Gfest knows Iron Man 2 opens today (under somewhat mixed reviews), but Marvel's next big movie already has many fans salivating.  The first feature film based on Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's (Gfest Lifetime Achievement Award Winner) Norse God Thor.

The movie has been on location shooting for quite sometime, but no one has been lucky enough to to get a glimpse of the characters.  Many fans have been wondering about the choice for the role of Thor, Australian actor Chris Hemsworth.

Yahoo! Movies swindled the gods and the movie studio and received the very first picture of Hemsworth in the Thor costume. Thor opens on May 6, 2011.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Trailer - WOW!!

It's only been a decade since Gfest last saw a new Marvel vs. Capcom fighting game -- 2000's Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes.  But, despite the wait, the long, long wait (which will be a little bit longer 2011). It's coming and it looks damn good.  So good that if you're viewing the clip below in public, you may have the same experience you did in middle school when you looked at the pretty girl next to you in class. So be careful before leaving your desk.  Just warning you.
