Tea Party gets Geico's Gecko Fired.

Gecko, start of the Geico Insurance Company's commercials has been fired by after leaving an angry voicemail for a national Tea Party group.
Gecko's voice was heard asking the Tea Party group in a voicemail what "the percentage of people that are mentally retarded who are working for your group"

In the voicemail, D.C. Douglas, who was the voice of Gecko in the commercials, questions how FreedomWorks (the official name of the Tea Party group) will "spin it when one of your members does actually kill somebody, wondering if you've got a PR spinning routine planned for that or are you just gonna take it when it happens."

Douglas has since acknowledged such an impulsive move was "STUPID!," but says he was impassioned by the "slurs the Tea Party crowd angrily yelled at Barney Frank, et al," during the climax of health care reform.

  1. It wasn't the gecko guy that was fired. It was the guy who does the voice over in the commercial. The guy who says, "Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on car insurance," in the commercials. Paul Morgan, a British actor, is the voice of the gecko.
