FarmVille Superhero Costumes Pulled At the Request of DC Comics?

I have never played FarmVille. It must be a decent or highly addictive game because I am shocked by the amount of people that play FarmVille. I am not criticizing mind you. I've been addicted to Civilization, Sim City, Roller Coaster Tycoon to name just a few.

Apparently, A little while ago, FarmVille was offering costumes to its players, named, respectively SuperFarmvilleMan and SuperFarmvilleWoman. And now… it’s not.  Not only are they not available to purchase, they have been removed from the accounts of those who bought them in return for refunds.

Games.com reports the following information about the removal of the "Super" FarmVille costumes:

The most obvious reason for these costumes being removed (while all other costumes are still available for purchase) is that Zynga received a knock on their door from DC Comics, who own the rights to Superman. Whether it was a phone call slap on the wrist or an actual Cease and Desist letter, we’re not sure… However, something fishy is definitely going on.

What do you think?  DC pull the plug?  Do you care?  Probably not but it's a slow news day.

Disney Bringing TRON: UPRISING Animated Series to Television

Disney’s long awaited sequel Tron Legacy hitting theaters next  month, but if you're one of those old school 1980s fans that cannot get enough Tron then you are going to be real, real happy.   Variety reports Disney XD has ordered Tron: Uprising an animated series being developed for release in the summer of 2012. Charlie Bean (Samurai Jack) will executive produce and direct the series 20 and Tron Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz will serve as consulting producers.

Heading into the world of Tron and lending their voices to the animated series will be Elijah Wood (Everything is Illuminated), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage), Mandy Moore (Tangled), Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee’s Playhouse), Lance Henriksen (Cyrus) and Bruce Boxleitner reprising his franchise role as Tron.

In September, it was announced that the original Tron: Uprising would be a ten part mini-series in which a young program named Beck stands up against an evil regime headed by Clu who obtains his status after the defeat of Tron, the security watchdog program.

However, Collider reports that information is not true and Tron: Uprising is completely independent of that mini-series which will air in the fall of 2011. We've got a sh#t load of Tron to look forward to after Tron Legacy hits theaters on December 17th.

Legendary Pictures Launches Legendary Comics

Legendary Pictures, the studio responsible for recent films such as "Clash of the Titans," "The Dark Knight," "300" and "The Hangover," is following the trend (albeit it's reversed) of Disney and Warner Brothers by jumping into the comic market.

In a press release, the company announced the formation of Legendary Comics with acclaimed comic book editor Bob Schreck joining the fold as Editor-in-Chief. Schreck, most recently of IDW Publishing, will oversee the publisher's intention to "publish four to six graphic novels a year for both digital and traditional print distribution."

The first project is planned to land in the first half of 2011.

“Bob is an iconic editor and one of most highly-regarded curators and editors of comic culture in our industry. He is the perfect leader with the right balance of passion and editorial skills to spearhead Legendary Comics,” said Thomas Tull, the chairman and CEO of Legendary Pictures. “Legendary Comics is committed to being a new home for groundbreaking artists and the characters and stories they create, in an art form we love.”

“Thomas and the Legendary team have a proven track record of cultivating talent and delivering unparalleled entertainment experiences, and I am looking forward to building Legendary Comics into a world-class label for the best writers and artists we know,” said Schreck. “We have a real opportunity to deliver hard-hitting characters and exciting, innovative storylines to comic book aficionados. We are in the fortunate position of already having major support from the community and collaborations lined up with world-class creators.”

Zack Snyder says "My Superman Will be Different" and "No General Zod"

Zack Snyder is learning from his producer Christopher Nolan when it comes to giving cryptic answers. He has even gone as far as to rule out a villain as Nolan did just last week with the Riddler.

Digital Spy reports on an interview with Empire:

"It's a different story," Snyder said. "I won't say there's a break from the canon or anything like that, but there is definitely an approach that makes you go, 'Okay, that's a way to get at it.'"

He continued: "David is very respectful of the canon and stuff like that. It has its roots in the canon and again, like I say, it has a point of view about who he is. I'm being cryptic, I know, but it's the best I can do."

Asked if his movie will track the Man of Steel's early years, Snyder replied: "I think it's early to say. I don't know."

The director also described rumours of the comic book hero facing General Zod as "just wrong", adding that "the internet has no idea what's going on". The truth hurts and I can't help agree that the "internet has no idea what's going on." Gfest is guilty as anyone of falsely publicizing the 'early years' storyline.  We are just so excited for a Superman reboot that report any ounce of news we can find about the upcoming Zach Snyder movie.

Lastly, if by different Snyder means a super sexy Supergirl character, Kelli seems like a prime candidate.

Original LEGO Star Wars Mini Movie Entitled, “The Bombad Bounty” is Simply Brilliant

God damn I love Lego.  I love the bricks, games, video games, movies, etc.  Everything Lego touches turns to gold.  Creativity mixed with perfection is the Lego standard.

Now, Lego is kicking off the holiday season with a Lego Star Wars mini-movie called “The Bombad Bounty” and it is damn good.  Sit back and enjoy another Lego masterpiece.

First Look At "Superman/Shazam: The Return Of Black Adam" DC Animated Movie

"DC Showcase" animated shorts have been a very pleasant surprise for all the DC Animated fans.  The Spectre (my favorite), Jonah Hex and Green Arrow have been released thus far as a bonus to a DC Animated full length feature.

As we reported earlier all the "DC Showcase" animated shorts being collected and released next week on DVD and Blu-Ray. What's even nicer, however, is that the collection comes with the brand new animated short Superman/Shazam: The Return Of Black Adam.

Rian Hughes' BATMAN & ROBIN Logos

Today, you get a special"Grant Morrison" treat when you head to your local comic shop, a deluxe version of Batman & Robin Volume 2 and Batman vs. Robin #16 hit the shelves. DC’s Source blog had a trio of posts yesterday promoting the occasion.

In addition to a preview of Batman & Robin #16, they also shared Morrison’s thoughts on the covers to issues 7-12 and, as seen above, Rian Hughes’ logo design. I love these logos.  Rian Hughes did a great job on these beautiful and creative logos.

Brooke Burke Makes a VERY GOOD Catwoman

Why doesn't every holiday require sexy women to dress in costume and parade around town?  Wouldn't Easter, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, Christmas or St. Patrick's Day be more fun with a little cosplay skin?

Catwoman.  The word is synonymous with sexy.  And, to prove my point, here’s one of the hottest women (and moms) on the planet, Brooke Burke at the 17th Annual Dream Halloween shindig dressed up as the sexiest Catwoman that I’ve seen in a long, long time. Wow, seeing Brooke Burke in that skin-tight suit feels like I'm looking at a Jim Lee or Adam Hughes comic book. 

British Woman Accuses Batman of Sexual Assault

 

The BBC is reporting that a woman has claimed she was pulled into an alleyway and indecently assaulted by Batman over the weekend.  She's hardly the first person who has regretted a meeting in a dark alley with Batman, but she may be the most sympathetic. 

The incident took place just off Broad Street in the town of Magherafelt at around 1:15 am on Sunday.  Coincidentally, that is the exact time of night when Batman is usually on the prowl.

It is understood the woman was walking past a Chinese restaurant when she was pulled into the crime alley by the man in the Batman costume.

This costumed attacker has been described as having dark spiky hair and a squashed nose.  Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to pass on information.

Alien Abductee To Tell Story in New Comic Book

Over the last 20 years, approximately 100,000 people claim to have been abducted by aliens, and they can't ALL be wrong can they?

Kim Carlsberg sure doesn't think so.  Kim experienced a "sudden an inexplicable relationship with non-human entities" starting with a 1988 experience in California while she was dating the creator of "Baywatch."  Kim released her first book in 1995 which detailed the personal events of her abduction, called "Beyond My Wildest Dreams: Diary of an Alien Abductee."  She made some claims in that book that were hard for the general public to digest, including the birth of an alien baby named April.

But now she is back, with plans to once again tell her story and those of 150 others through a comic book that she wrote with detailed illustrations based on the memories of those who were abducted.

'The Art of Close Encounters,' is a coffee table book that features 150 illustrations made by alleged abductees describing their experiences.  Here's what they say aliens look like:

Interesting, and fairly standard.  In fact most of the drawings of aliens in the book look very similar to these two above.  But then we hit the jackpot!  Then we find the hot alien.  The one we all wish we could be abducted by.  Check out this alien princess:

Now you have my attention!  What planet is she from?  And when does the next NASA flight leave?



It's hard to believe that we are the only beings in the entire universe.  But that doesn't necessarily mean we're ready to jump on board the idea of alien abductions, and alien babies.  That's an idea we may need a little time to warm up to.  Having said that, presenting the arguement in the form of a graphic novel with super hot alien princesses is a brilliant way to begin to make me a believer. 

Sexy Super Model Tanit Phoenix May Be the Next Wonder Woman

Apparently the South African supermodel and actress, who recently appeared in Lost Boys: The Thirst, is in the running to play Wonder Woman in the new WB/DC tv series heading our way..

Although we may not see the Amazonian princess on the big screen for some time, we will see her grace our tv screens at some point. According to Comic Book Movie, apparently WB/DC are already on the hunt for a lady to don the lasso and gauntlets. And WhatsPlaying report that model turned actress Tanit Phoenix is on their watch list..

Apparently, the actress has actually already spoken to key members of the production team and expressed interest… and they’re (that includes some suits at Warner Bros, whom she worked with on Lost Boys: The Thirst) apparently big fans, so her name will undoubtedly be amongst the four or five young actresses that are ultimately shortlisted for the role of the Amazonian princess. “She will definitely get to screen test”, says an insider.

Phoenix certainly looks the part. She's 5'9 and all kinds of gorgeous. Aside from The Lost Boys movie she has appeared in Lord Of War with Nicholas Cage, a few straight to dvd flicks and has been cast in the lead for HBO's upcoming show Femme Fatales.

Star Wars Picture is The World’s Largest Lego Mosiac

Tony Sims of Wired recently posted about Dorling Kindersley’s attempt to break the world record for the largest Lego Mosaic in London.

The bricks have been counted and the size of the mosaic has been measured, and it has been confirmed that DK and the LEGO Group have broken a Guinness World Record for the largest image built with interlocking plastic bricks, to celebrate the launch of the latest in DK’s LEGO Brickmaster Books series!

Nearly 2000 visitors, young and old came along to help build this fantastic creation, and with the help and guidance from the Brickish Association and DK team, the mosaic was finished in at lunchtime on Monday, October 25th.

Congrats to DK, Lego and all the volunteers that assisted in building this beautiful masterpiece.   Now if I could get some volunteers to help me put together my sons Lego Death Star.

Battle of the Lantern Corps Pumpkins - Which is Cooler?

Today we present to you an epic battle between two incredibly cool sets of Halloween pumpkins carved in the shape of the symbols of the various lantern corps.

The first was done by Grace Belancik (a.k.a. DeviantArt user RocketGirluvsUkitake) who was creative enough to branch out beyond pumpkins and instead find either colored pumpkins or other foods that were the appropriate color for each corps. 

The second set was sent to us by Jillian Sarro who made them with her boyfriend.  (by the way dude, nice catch.  Hold on to her for that Wonder Woman costume alone).  They found away to have each of their lantern corps pumpkins lit up inside with the appropriate color for each corps.  Can you spot the Black Lantern Corps pumpkin?  Didn't think so.

The brain trust behind gfest is officially split between which set is the coolest.  So we decided to settle the bet by throwing it open to you.  Tell us in the comment section which one you think is cooler.

New Tron: Legacy Clip of Olivia Wilde Driving a Go-Kart

Walt Disney Pictures has released this clip of Olivia Wilde (Quorra) rescuing Garrett Hedlund (Sam Flynn) and taking him for a high-speed Light Runner ride.

Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), a man once known as the world's leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the abandoned Flynn's Arcade—that could have only come from his father—he finds himself pulled into a world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. First Look at Chris Evans in His Captain America Costume

Entertainment Weekly released the first look at Chris Evans in one of the most famous costumes in all of comic books, Captain America.  The entire costume is not viewable from the cover of EW, but from the picture, I very much like what I see.  The shield looks cool as well.  The chinks in it make it look very authentic.  If you're a fan of Captain America you have to be happy that Joe Johnston got the costume right. Tom Hardy To Play Harvey Bullock In Batman 3: "The Dark Knight Rises"?

It seems like everyday a new Batman 3 nugget is released into cyberspace.  Yesterday, we received the wonderful news that the third film in Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise finally has a title, “The Dark Knight Rises.”  We also learned from Nolan that the Riddler is NOT the villain in Batman 3. So much for the rumor that Tom Hardy will pay the Riddler.  If Hardy is not the Riddler, what role will he have in the "Dark Knight Rises?"

Well IMBD  updated their cast list for TDKR with Tom Hardy listed as Detective Harvey Bullock (rumored of course). Is this accurate or hoax?  Comic Book Movie gives us their take on the IMBD rumor, "I realize this must be taken for what it is. IMDB don't even post any news source for the info. But the thing is, once in a blue moon they actually get a few things right. IMDB had actor JJ Field listed as Montgomery Falsworth(Union Jack) in Captain America TFA before any other news site did, and that has since been confirmed. So I figured this was worth reporting on the off chance."

I think Hardy would play a good Bullock.  Put a some fat on his bones, stick a cigar in his mouth, a fedora on his head, a sandwich in his hand and he may will be a perfect Bullock.

The History of Batman Symbol Makes me Batty

TheDoLittle at 9GAG posted this simple but fascinating picture (or scribble) entitled, "The History of Bats."  It is such a simple piece of art but yet it is so mesmerizing.  If you look close enough you can make-out various Batman symbols through the years.  Truly amazing.  I could not find the original artist, please let us know whom to give credit where credit is definitely due.

My Fellow 999,999 Angry Bird Halloween Fans

I admit it. I am addicted to Angry Birds. I play it on my iPhone whenever I have a few minutes of down time. my second confession, I also purchased Angry Birds Halloween even though I knew it was the same game just different pictures. Third confession, I will also purchase an Angry Birds Christmas edition if they develop it (which after the Halloween numbers you know it's coming).

Finland-based developer Rovio announced its new release of Angry Birds Halloween for the iPhone, iPod and iPad was downloaded one million times on the Apple App Store in just six days.

"We're delighted too see such fantastic reception for Angry Birds Halloween," said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. "We intend to continue creating more and more quality products and updates, and keep exceeding the expectations of our fans worldwide."

Angry Birds Halloween was the first self-published title by the studio after publisher Chillingo was purchased by Electronic Arts last week.
