Bitching a Classic

Bitching A Classic is a fun little game gfesters love to play, because it celebrates to extreme negativity of many comic book fans. We give you little snippets from ridiculously negative customer reviews on Amazon of regarded classics. You see if you can guess the book.

Today's Clues:

  • Is a story by an author who unfortunately seems to be in love with himself and trying to impress readers with how smart, deep and thought-provoking his ideas can be.

  • Is there no one at DC Comics whose job it is to toss a script back into a writer's face and say "What the hell is this @#$% ?"
  • This book is one big mess from start to finish. It's very slow moving and the plot is all over the place. At no time was I sure what was going on. Hundreds of characters are thrown in throughout & I've no idea what they're doing & what the point of them is.

  • The worst comic book / graphic novel in the modern age of comics has arrived. I don't even know where to start with this garbled mess. DC comics should be ashamed of themselves for letting this hit the shelves.

  • The book does 1 thing right, it keeps you turning the page because you are constantly hoping that the next page will possibly explain in plain English what is going on.

Gfest's Bitching a Classic Game - Round 3

Bitching A Classic is a fun little game gfesters love to play, because it celebrates to extreme negativity of many comic book fans. We give you little snippets from ridiculously negative customer reviews on Amazon of highly regarded classics. You see if you can guess the book.

Today's Clues:
  • The story was so terrible that it was the same even if I read it backwards. The art was so bad, I didn't even know whether it was comic book art or a collection of Picasso's.  I would rather watch an infomercial.
  • I came away feeling cheated and like I'd gotten screwed with my pants still on. There are some inspired moments but mostly I was asking the question, "Yeah, okay, interesting - but when's the freaking story gonna start??!
  • The biggest letdown, I felt, was the artwork.  The graphics seemed very amateurish and sloppy.  For instance, from start to end, I couldn't tell if Catwoman was black or white (in terms of ethnicity).
  • This story is basically terrible. its poorly drawn, stupid looking..and batman is barely in it.
  • this book is short! It took me about 30 minutes to read and I highly doubt I will wish to read it again.

Gfest Game - Bitching A Classic - Round 2

Bitching A Classic is a fun little game gfesters love to play, because it celebrates to extreme negativity of many comic book fans. We give you little snippets from ridiculously negative customer reviews on Amazon of highly regarded classics. You see if you can guess the book.
Today's Clues:
  • It was so long and wordy I gave up after the 5th chapter. I had a hard time finding it entertaining or following the plot.
  • I consider almost everything about the story an abomination. Most of the blood-splattering, scenery-chewing, plotless nihilism that defined superhero comics from the late 80's to the late 90's can ultimately be traced back to this story.
  • A lame villain and pointless revisionism make this story not worthwhile.
  • Without a doubt this is the biggest piece of crap I have ever read. I couldn't get past the 2nd or 3rd chapter. Long, overly involved, overly complex, and just plain old stupid.
  • Read only if looking for simultaneous cures for insomnia and sanity. This was nothing more than a waste of my time and brain-space.
  • A nearly 400-page string of countless deaths. My first reaction to it, in fact, was horror... it's much more of a horror story than a "fun" story.

Gfest Game - Bitching a Classic

Bitching A Classic is a fun little game gfesters love to play, because it celebrates to extreme negativity of many comic book fans. We give you little snippets from ridiculously negative customer reviews on Amazon of highly regarded classics.  You see if you can guess the book.

Today's Clues:
  • The critics who liked this story would have you believe that this story makes superheroes more human, which is what they said about Watchmen. I've read Watchmen, and this isn't even close.
  • Overall, this is a story that DC should have looked at in great detail and rejected as utterly stupid.
  • Composes a story full of plot holes, bad characterization, and enough tired cliches to make any true fan of the genre wince.
  • This pretentious and sorry excuse of a graphic novel should be relegated to the rubbish heap where it belongs.  It heralds DC Comic's year-long spiral into a miasma of grim-and-grittiness not seen in the comics industry since the 1980s
  • How the Justice League finally finds out who was responsible for this murder is so inane I felt unclean after reading the last issue of the mini-series.
