New Green Lantern Action Figures Revealed Including Dex-Starr & Movie Version of Parallax

Action Figure Insider (best collector site on the net) reports that Mattel's DC Universe Classics line will be the first to capture the 3D characters from Ryan Reynold's "Green Lantern" film coming in 2011.

DCUC's Green Lantern Classics wave 2 will not only include lots and lots of comic toys, but also the film version of Parallax (which for now is just a silhouette, but in the future we will get a peak of fear as it will be portrayed in the movie).

Joining movie Parallax are Nautkelloi and Medphyll (one body with swappable heads), Red Lanterns Skallox and Night Lik, Sodam Yat, Star Sapphire, Varix and the best part of all is a VERY special 3-pack of mini-characters B'dg, Dex-Starr (may favorite Red Lantern) and Despotellis.

Interestingly, Night Lik is a brand new character created by toy makers the Four Horsemen. Geoff Johns named the new lantern, who will be appearing in an issue of the GL comic following its first appearance on toy shelves.

Parallax will be fully-revealed in the January issue of one of my favorite publications, ToyFare magazine.

Mattel's 2010 Comic Con Exclusives

SDCC 2010 is almost here.  While we all wait anxiously for the panels, discussions, tributes, etc we do have the opportunity to satisfy some of our SDCC needs immediately.  Toys! Toys! Toys!  SDCC has many, many beautiful and unique toys this year.   Let's feed our comic con need by looking at a few of Mattels limited edition 2010 San Diego Comic Con Exclusives.  Many of these beauties will be available in limited amounts online after the convention through MattyCollector.com, though some of them have accessories that can only be had a Comic-Con.

Masters of the Universe Classics: Color Changing Orko, with Prince Adam
For the more traditional He-Man fans out there (and don’t be misled, there is absolutely such a thing as He-Man traditionalists). An old-school Orko, part of the “Masters of the Universe Classics” line. He even comes with a full-sized, fully articulated Prince Adam “accessory,” sweetening the $25 price tag. Also he changes color.

Mo-Larr vs. Skeletor
Let’s get this one out up front. Yep, it’s Skeletor, and he’s at the dentist. It’s inspired by a Robot Chicken bit, with Mattel’s press materials calling the two-pack the “first ever [Masters of the Universe] figures featured in a Robot Chicken sketch,” implying that there might be more figures from Robot Chicken sketches in the future. Even if you’re not a fan of the Adult Swim show, consider this your long-awaited opportunity to own a really nice figure of Skeletor missing a tooth. (Plus, it’s reminiscent of this awesome painting.) The He-Man exclusives are always great, and go quickly, so this should be an interesting test to determine the drawing power of an Eternian dentist. ($50)

DC Universe Classics: Plastic Man with Suitcase
The cool thing about con exclusives is that companies can really go nuts with the packaging and accessories. Case in point: this Plastic Man comes with all sorts of extra limbs and appendages — plus the glasses there on the packaging can actually be removed and worn, thus doubling as a way to spot the coolest dudes walking the exhibit hall! ($20)

Hot Wheels: Wonder Woman Jet
Apparently, this exclusive originated as an April Fool’s joke on the Hot Wheels Facebook group (those Hot Wheels Facebook jokesters!). Though given recent changes to Wonder Woman’s continuity placing her as growing up in urban America since early childhood, it should probably now be an invisible Jetta. ($5)
DC Universe 75th Anniversary Pack: Starro with Pack of Spores
GFEST CON FAVORITE: the original Justice League, in 3 and 3/4-inch scale, tackling Starro just as they did in their first appearance back in Brave and the Bold #28. The box also includes “lights and sounds,” plus Starro is bendy (bendy Starro!), making this a wholly appealing product. It’s good there’s no pandemic threat like SARS or swine flu this summer, or the bonus “pack of spores” might scare folks off. ($50)

Polly Pocket Dressed for Justice
As the loyal legion of Polly Pocket fans reading this blog have no doubt already surmised, that’s Polly Pocket and her pals Lea and Lila dressed as, respectively, Supergirl, Batgirl and what unearthed, carbon-dated artifacts have suggested might be a primitive version of the Wonder Woman costume. ($20)

Also available: a Mego-style talking Real Ghostbusters Venkman, a Hot Wheels Ecto-1, a 3 and 3/4-inch Lotso from Toy Story 3 and a Cars “Tokyo Mater;” all 20 bucks.

Who Wants Their Own Robot Chicken?

Gfest does.  We've been big fans of Robot Chicken since it's inception.  Who could forget the superhero big brother/real world sketch.  A classic!

Geek Chic Daily exclusively unveiled the new Robot Chicken action figure coming our way very soon from toymaker Jazwares. It’s part of the first wave of toys from the Adult Swim hit, a wave which will also include smaller-scaled figures of the Mad Scientist with the Chicken, the Humping Robot (packaged with a humpable washing machine), the Candy Bear caught in a bear trap and the first available figure, a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive of the show’s signature Nerd character.

Gfest will keep you posted when we hear a firm release date.

Mattel's SDCC Exclusive Plastic Man Looks Awesome

Gfest loves it's action figures. We especially love our SDCC exclusive action figures.  So when Mattel released the exclusive packaging and content of this years DC Comics SDCC exclusive Plastic Man action figure, your friends at Gfest were as excited as Dick Grayson when he became Batman (despite the fact he is a whiny little bitch).

This special packaging has been shaped to look like Plastic Man himself and it comes in a full-color shipper box for safe keeping. But the coolest thing of all? A pair of Plastic Man glasses are included that can be removed from the package and worn by you!
If you do purchase Plastic Man at SDCC, he’ll also come with a special suitcase available only at the show (packed in a separate poly bag). Not just any suitcase, of course… his arms, head and neck can be attached to the suitcase to make him appear disguised as luggage. Inside the suitcase is a chip-art comic book cover from the 75 years of DC Comics.

Head on over to MattyCollector to see all the images of this awesome SDCC exclusive action figure.

NEW Justice League Unlimited Action Figures - Batman Beyond, Starro, Barry Allen...

Gfest loves action figures and is an avid collector of the Justice League Unlimited (JLU) action figures. Gfest was as excited as Vivid Entertainment finding the Kendra Wilkinson sex tape when we learned that Batman Beyond, Mister Terrific and Starro Superman were joining the lineup later this year.

  • Future JLU Superman with Starro Spore — In a double dose of firsts, this release will mark the initial availability of an all-new figure, plus it includes fan-favorite Starro Spore as a never-before-offered accessory!
  • Barry Allan as The Flash with Lightning Bolt — It’s the first time this figure is offered.
  • Power Ring — Evil twins everywhere will rejoice when Power Ring joins their ranks for the first time as an action figure. Features a giant green hand construct.
  • Batman Beyond with Batarang — Available for the first time as a single, Batman is ready to battle the bad guys when stocked with this staple from his arsenal.
  • Mr. Terrific — Also making his big debut as a single, the ever-present T-spheres have been completely redesigned.
No word on release date just yet, but you can visit mattycollector for more information.
