Christopher McQuarrie has worked with director Bryan Singer on a
number of movies over the years, from The Usual Suspects (which
won McQuarrie an Oscar) to the WWII movie Valkyrie. Now we’re
hearing word that the director/writer duo will be teaming up once more
for Singer’s upcoming fantasy movie, Jack the Giant Killer.
Heat Vision Blog reports the news that
McQuarrie will write a new draft of Jack the
Giant Killer, after previous drafts were written by the likes
of Mark Bomback (Live Free of Die Hard) and Darren Lemke (Shrek
Forever After).

The tale is set in motion when a princess is kidnapped,
threatening a long-standing peace between men and giants. A young farmer
is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giants’
kingdom in hope of rescuing her.
Singer is set to
begin casting soon and will shoot the movie this summer in England. The film is being produced
by Neil Moritz through his company, Original Film, along with David
Dobkin. The project is a partnership between New Line and Legendary
Pictures
.
Something worth noting is that McQuarrie is the same guy
who is writing Wolverine
2, a film people many thought Singer might direct (though
Singer’s schedule is a bit too full right now). Singer will instead
produce the X-Men prequel film X-Men: First
Class (he was once attached to direct but dropped
out to do Giant Killer) and with McQuarrie
writing Wolverine 2, there’s a chance Singer
could produce that, too.
